The team at ShapeCUT have been proud sponsors of Declan Fraser’s racing career from his early days, and now we’re excited to continue supporting him as he starts the 2019 Toyota 86 Racing season.

Toyota 86 taking off

The Toyota 86 Racing Series was originally going to be a three-season event, but the popularity of the sport has exceeded initial expectations and has recently been extended for another two years to 2020. It’s seen as an excellent bridge between the beginner pro-am events and heavy hitters such as the internationally-renowned Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

The 2019 season will comprise of a series of six rounds, with three races in each round held over consecutive days. With $150,000 of prize money for the winner on offer, the competition will be fierce with drivers pushing themselves are their Toyotas to the limit. The cars themselves are mostly identical to the models we can buy at any Toyota showroom, with the only modification being the addition of a roll cage and other FIA-sanctioned safety requirements.

Declan has been racing for so long now he must have oil in his veins. The eighteen-year-old already has a streak of victories to his name across multiple racing classes, and is gearing up for another year of the Toyota 86 racing series. After placing 12th in the 2018 ladder, including the first race in November 2018 where he claimed the chequered flag, Declan and the team are ready to continue at full pace in 2019 and beyond.

2019 and beyond

Declan Fraser issued a statement announcing his new team structure for the 2019 season. “I am excited to announce that this year I will be teaming up with Paul “The Dude” Morris and Norwell Motorplex for the 2019 Toyota 86 Racing Series! Paul and the crew at Norwell played an instrumental role in our 2018 journey and I can not wait to see what 2019 brings with the help from such a professional outfit. Joining me in the team is Luke Vanna Racing!”

After a launch event on March 25, the 2019 racing calendar starts on the 12th to 14th of April at Phillip Island and we can’t wait to see how Declan and the team perform through the season. The whole team at ShapeCUT are big fans of his racing style and even proudly display a signed Declan Fraser Racing car bonnet in our office lobby.
